Here's a look I did a couple days ago with my purples. Purples are my favorite color and I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. I think Make Up Forever has THE BEST purple eyeshadows out there...

Prescriptives Motor-Eyes Instant Action Mascara
Check it out....
Have any of you ladies used a vibrating mascara wand before? If so, did you like?
I have to be honest, I haven't tried it before and really have no desire to. Seems kinda gimmicky to me, plus I do a good job of applying my own mascara without the vibrations/oscillations. LOL Am I missing out on something? Holla at your girl...
You can now enjoy free standard shipping with any purchase through 4/25 at Prescriptives.com just enter code Motoreyes at checkout.

Favorite Things Friday: Biosilk Silk Therapy

Happy Friday, Beauties! Whew...we made it through the week! :-)
Its time for the next installment of my favorite things! I've been getting a lot of questions and inquiries on my hair and what I use so I'm excited to highlight this product that has been a staple in my hair routine for...hmmm...probably 2-3 years now.
Biosilk Silk Therapy is a lightweight, moisterizing and replenishing treatment that coats and protects the hair while giving it a healthy shine.
Here's the product description from Folica.com:
"BioSilk Silk Therapy is the perfect, lightweight, replenishing treatment to protect and maintain hair and skin and keep it in optimum condition.
The concentrated silk molecules of the BioSilk Silk Therapy impart a smooth and silky feel while providing brilliant high gloss shine with only a few drops. This ideal treatment will protect the hair from build up will not weigh it down; additional sunscreens safeguard the hair from UV damage, pollution, and dryness."
Features and Benefits:
- Lightweight, leave-in replenishing and reconstructing treatment that eliminates frizz and repairs split-ends
- Silk proteins penetrate the hair, bonding and strengthening it from the inside out
- Added Vitamin B provides maximum moisture retention
- Brilliant high gloss shine with botanical extracts and Vitamin E add softness
- Added UV protection from sun damage
- Great when used with a flat iron
- Ideal for all hair types
I love this stuff! For me, it is the perfect fit. I have VERY oily hair. I get my hair done every 2-3 weeks (wash, condition, blow dry, flat iron) and after about a week my hair is usually pretty oily without me putting anything on it. Therefore, I tend to stay away from heavy serums, oils, and moisterizers because they weigh my hair down and make it unbelievably greasy. Yet, I needed something that would keep my hair healthy, give it a natural shine AND protect it from heat styling (if you use any kind of heat on your hair you really should use a heat protectant to avoid damage) WITHOUT being greasy. Biosilk Silk Therapy does all of that and then some!
I usually only apply once every week or so after I unwrap and style my hair. I apply a very SMALL amount in the palm of my hand (a little bit of this product goes a long way!), rub my hands together then I rub and finger-comb it throughout my hair paying special attention to my ends. After that I'm good to go! It has a pleasant smell and another great thing about this product is that it is safe to use on your skin. Therefore, if you apply just a wee bit too much to your hands...rub it over your arms, elbows and knees for added moisture! I love products that are multi-functional! :-)
You can find Biosilk Silk Therapy at your local CVS drugstore or HERE.
Have a great weekend, Beauties!

Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat
The greatest thing in my nail polish wardrobe is Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. I tend to change my nail polish every 2-3 days (sometimes I'll go 4 if I'm really busy). I like changing up the colors and I like the look of fresh, glossy polish. But...I'm super busy. Like I don't have enough hours in the day to accomplish the things I need to accomplish AND actually sleep enough so I don't pass out.
Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat has changed the game for me. I can now change my nail color as often as my heart desires WITHOUT having to wait hours for the polish to dry down completely. This means my nails are dry and ready to go (no smudging, prints, nicks, etc) in 5-10 minutes tops (depending on if I do 2 or 3 coats of polish) and the shine...it's amazing! *swoon*
I can usually find Seche products at my local drugstore (like CVS) but if not, you can always purchase HERE.
Take care, beauties!
Also, quick shout out to one of my favorite guys...my brother Troy! Happy Birthday big brother! Mimi loves you vewwwwwy much! *muah* :-)

Quick Makeup Fix: Smudgees!

Have you ever banged out the perfect eye look only to add liquid or gel liner that looks wonky because the line isn't straight? Have you ever applied liner to your lower lash line only to have it travel raccoon style down under your eyes by mid-day? Or (my personal favorite) have you ever applied two coats of fresh fabulous mascara and then before it was dry....sneezed...leaving mascara dotted around your eyes?
Yup...that's me all the way.
I always end up grabbing a q-tip and trying to work it out and correct my mistakes, which can really be a pain.
However, today as I was flipping through my new Lucky magazine this product caught my eye. They're called Smudgees and I think they might be the answer to my makeup mistakes....
Product Description:
"Smudgees™ are cotton-tipped wands that are just over two inches long. The custom-shape is pre-moistened with an eye-makeup remover created especially for smudgees™. Precise moistening of each smudgees™ and the alcohol-free and oil-free formula mean rinsing is not required and drying is almost instantaneous.
Because each smudgees™ is individually wrapped in small, air-tight foil packets, they can be easily tucked into a pocket or purse to use whenever and wherever this annoying problem occurs. The individual, one-use packet is fast, disposable, portable, and most importantly, 100% hygienic for the delicate eye area. A small notch cut into the package allows for easy opening." from smudgees.com
Ummm...sold! I love that they're individually packaged and pre-moistened with just enough makeup remover to get the job done.
You can get a 20 pack of smudgees for $7 at Smudgees.com!
Have you tried these? What do you use to correct your makeup mistakes?

New MAC Collection: Double Dazzle!

New Series!! Milan's Rouge Mondays
Hey Beauties!
So this is a new series that I've been thinking about for a while now. Most of you probably already know that I LOVE lipgloss. Its like...my thing. But aside from that, I also ADORE a good blush...or cheek rouge, if you will. :-) For years I thought blush was one of those things that black women just really shouldn't wear. Mainly because I didn't know how to apply it and make it work for me. Boy, I couldn't have been more wrong! Blush (done right) can totally transform your face (in a good way!) and make you look fresh and bright. I have amassed quite a collection for myself just in the last couple of years and I would like to share it with all my Milan Rouge readers along with helpful tips and tricks to rockin' blush the right way. So tune in every Monday...you won't be disappointed! :-)
First up today is one of my all-time favorite blushes and one of the first I ever purchased. I just want to give you a little backstory to this one to show you how I came to fall in love with blush in the first place...about 3 years ago I was planning my wedding so I had a crapload of bridal magazines that I would look through daily for ideas and inspiration. So I had this one particular bridal magazine with Kerry Washington on the cover and I was IN LOVE with her makeup. I was most intrigued with her cheek color. She had this peachy glow to her cheeks that was sooo pretty and I had to have whatever it was that achieved that look. Fortunately, the magazine listed each product used on her cover look and to my surprise the cheek color was MAC's cream colour base in Virgin Isle. At the time, the only cream colour base I owned was Pearl and I only used that every now and again as a base for my eyeshadows. All the times I had been to MAC, I never really paid attention to any of the other cream colour bases that could be used as blushes because...well...as I said, I wasn't into blush.
But THIS..THIS I had to have. So I headed to look online for it...and I couldn't find it on the regular MAC website. So I called my MAC freestanding store and one of the MUA (makeup artist) told me that Virgin Isle was a Pro product. Arrrghhh...err...okay. I found the closest Pro store to me and headed there (I was serious ya'll). So when I get there, the store was busy (surprise, surprise) so I head over to the cream colour base display to look for Virgin Isle myself. I really had no clue what it actually looked like in the pan so as I'm glancing at the display I decide that the light peachy color I was looking for was not there. Just to be sure, I waited for a MUA to help me and when I asked for Virgin Isle she led me back over to the display...grabbed a BRIGHT orangey-coral pot of ccb and handed it to me. Um...say what, now?! I was instantly intimidated and initially thought that the magazine had made a mistake. THIS bright coral color couldn't possibly have created the soft warm peach glow on Kerry Washington's cheeks....
So I told the MUA that it was MUCH brighter than I expected and I didn't think it would work for me...as I handed it back to her. She insisted that the color would look beautiful on my cheeks and asked if she could try it on me. Well since I drove all the way down there...may as well...so I let her. She went to grab a #187 brush and came back and went to work. She lightly dipped the brush in the pot twice and I could feel her stippling the color on the apples of my cheeks and then swirling it around lightly to blend. When she was done she handed me a mirror and I was FLOORED. THIS was IT! The color I fell in love with on the magazine cover! I wanted to hug her...but I didn't. LOL. I happily paid for it and took home my first blush...and a cream at that! I didn't get the 187 brush because I had already purchased a Sephora stippling brush that was comparable to the MAC one.
So 3 years later, I'm a certified blush fanatic, I still have Virgin Isle (a little goes a loooong way) and its STILL my favorite. I wore it yesterday to Easter Sunday church services and brunch with the family and it never disappoints.

I love the warm, natural peachy glow it gives. And yes I used my stippling brush to apply the same way the MUA at MAC showed me a few years ago. Honestly, the stippling brush (or skunk brush as some people call it) is a Godsend. I now have powder blushes and blush cremes that are even brighter than my Virgin Isle that I LOVE...I just apply them with this brush which helps blend the color beautifully thus avoiding looking like a clown. :-)
Unfortunately, I realized today as I was editing this post that Virgin Isle seems to have been discontinued. BOOOOO!!! :-( I can't find it on the MAC Pro site. If you want it, you may want to call around to other MAC Pro locations to see if they have any in stock that they could send you. I'm going to try to secure a back-up if I can. It's THAT fabulous! Even if you can't find Virgin Isle, I hope this post (and future posts in this series) will help you step out of your comfort zone and try something different. You can try some of the other cream colour bases and blushcremes that MAC has to offer in vibrant shades. The moral of the story is that you shouldn't be afraid of the bright, vibrant shades of blush because 9 times out of 10 you CAN make it work. This is especially true of my black and brown sistas...color IS our friend. :-)
Blush Cream Tip: Once you apply the cream blush, lightly dust a translucent powder over your cheeks to set and help it last throughout the day!
Have a great day, beauties!

Beauty Series: Favorite Things Friday!

Hey Beauties!
Happy Friday!! I hope everyone had a wonderful week so far. One more work day to get through and the weekend is here.
Today I'm starting the first installment of a new series that I plan to do every friday. As the title suggests, I'll be highlighting some of MY favorite things...hey Oprah can't have all the fun. :-)
I hope you guys enjoy it!
First up...an oldy but goody and one of my all-time favorite, must have, carry with me everywhere I go products: Smith's Rosebud Salve!
This product single-handedly saved my lips this past winter season. I wear this practically every day under my lipstick/gloss and reapply throughout the day to maintain soft, supple, chapped-free lips! Its soft and moisterizing with a pleasant rose smell and I love the vintage metal tin packaging. You can also use Rosebud Salve to moisterize dry hands, elbows and knees...there's really no excuse to be ashy. LOL
A little goes a long way and its super affordable...$6 bucks! Next time you're in Sephora, grab a tin of Rosebud Salve...your lips will thank you.
Have you tried Rosebud Salve? What's your favorite go-to balm?
Take care, beauties!
